Then ask Him directly.
God will hear you especially if you ask with sincere feeling. And get ready for the answer to appear from anywhere. God is your God, talk to Him as your close friend. Ego is not there. God loves you. Simple. No judgement. Surprised? Do you think God does not hear you? Feelings, or vibrations, are the language of spirit. God may give you the answer you were not expecting and it could be from an advertisement you see, or bumper sticker, or magazine page that opens to it, a comment you overhear, or if you are sensitive to it you may feel the answer.
What if we consider God differently?
The concept of God has been around forever, yet it’s still a topic that continues to be debated. What is God?, Does He exist in the form the church most associates with Him? Is He judgemental and vindictive and angry? Is the Bible accurate about the many who died? These are some of the questions many people have regarding understanding who God is and why we should not fear to consider more than what we are told is in the scriptures, or the fiery words thrown out by those who would have us burn in hell. In this article, GodsYou will explore these questions and more as we seek to understand better who God is and why exploring inside and outside the established religious faiths can enrich our lives.
God is Love
When we think of love, we often think of a feeling. But feelings are fickle—they come and go. True love is so much more than a feeling. It’s always a decision to choose what’s best and right, even when it’s not easy. And that’s who God is. It is Love energy. If it is not about love it is not from Him.
You ask, huh?
Youtube the many near death experiences there. Not all but the vast majority report an immediate feeling of light and love and compassion like nothing experienced in this earthly adventure.
God is love, and because It is love, It desires what is best for us above all else. But that measn what is best for our soul’s growth. Our bodies are like clothes we change into after each life but the soul is connected with God. God wants what’s best for us and created all that we need to create the world we think and feel we want in this world. He gave us free will which is His biggest gift and shows how much He loves us. His unconditional love casts out all fear because when we know we are loved perfectly, completely, we don’t have to be afraid anymore. We can relax and rest in His love.
But what does this love mean? It means to accept the good and the bad and appreciating all of it. Does a mother whose son does bad things hate the son she loves. Never. God is the same. He always loves no matter what. He does not judge. We judge but He does not. He gave us free will to become who we choose to want to be.
God is everything there is. God is in all the plants and rocks, animals and people, and everything in between.
Is God Man-Made?
What is God? The Books say God created us in His image. What if that means spiritual image as we are connected energetically to God. Some believe God is man-made but that may not be exactly accurate either. But there sure are a lot of human characteristics in the great creator in the books. Why does God have such a temper? And why is God jealous? And if God wanted us to not do some things, why did he give us free will? But what if the Bible is a mix of truth, fantasy, allegories, with fear and judgement thrown in to either accidentally or on purpose have us live in fear? Fear is the tool that controls. But the truth is that God has always been here. Time is a earthly construct. There is only now. He is the energy of life that powers us. God is in us. God is you.
But don’t get a big head. God is also in the rock you tripped over, and the trees. And your boss. Every person you meet is a representative of God in spirit and when we can see people as spirits first equal to us it can be a more peaceful world.
Perhaps the real issue is that our understanding of God comes from a book created by a power that has until now been one of the most powerful institutions that there ever was and still is. Religion.
Some interpretations of the Bible make God out to be petty, vengeful, and cruel. He appears to dole out punishments, trials, and sufferings to people to provide discipline and correction for ‘wrongdoing’. Perhaps these interpretations are just ways of keeping people in line, living in fear, and connected to the earth and church. There is much beauty to found in the religious texts but it has to be interpreted in a clear way that does not go against what we know about God. That God is love.
God is so much more than this pettiness and jealousy taught us. He is loving and kind and only wants the best for us. No matter how much church leaders can try to push us to where they want to lead us, isn’t it time to think for ourselves and look for other possibilities of what could be God?
The Wisdom of Other Religions
God is not religious, no matter how much the various religions will try to say otherwise. There are many religions in the world, each with its unique beliefs and much wisdom to be found in their scriptures and writings. But why do we have to stay earth based when talking about something so Ginormous? We can not even imagine all there is in the multiverses that is the spiritual realms. But we are also human. While the Bible is the authoritative source of Christian teaching, it is not the only religious text that contains truth and wisdom. Other religions, such as Judaism, Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism, have their sacred texts full of guidance and insight.
For example, Buddhism teaches that life is full of suffering and that our desires and attachments cause this suffering. This teaching can help you let go of material possessions and focus on what truly matters.
Hinduism teaches that we are all part of an eternal birth, death, and rebirth cycle. This can help you to see life from a broader perspective and to be less attached to earthly things.
Studying other religions’ wisdom can help Christians better understand their faith. It can also provide a broader perspective on the world and how different people view God. Reading religious texts from other traditions can be a valuable way to learn about other cultures and gain a new understanding of the human experience.
Rest assured that there is nothing to fear from exploring other religions. Other religions offer insights and guidance that are new to you and are of great benefit. You may learn much about God that you didn’t already know. Increasing your knowledge is not a bad thing to do at all, and you cannot be punished for it.
But there could be issues when we choose to follow humans telling us that the real God is such and such. They are just a person like you. How do they know? Did they meet him, or her or it? Or are they adding their interpretation on God based on what they were told or wish to interpret their brand of faith?
So I want to sugget something BOLD. What if God had none of the human characteristics portrayed from the churches including judgement and condemnation and what if God is just Love. And what if you are just love tricked into believing you are something less? Looked at from this point of view and without the fear church instills doesn’t life seem much less stressful and make a lot more sense?
I believe our God is not jealous or vengeful. Our God does not give you free will, only to send you to hell for ‘wrongdoing.’ God is love and does not do these things. People do these things. And we are told these things simply because we were all taught these things. But it is a new world of truth and it is time for the truth to be told about God.
Please take the wisdom and the ideas from the scriptures as you wish, but one check I like to use is if it ain’t love it ain’t God. Look at the words out of Jesus’ mouth. Pure love. Everything else is up for debate.
One of the most important things to remember is that no one religion has a monopoly on truth. Just because someone follows a different religion does not mean they are automatically right or wrong about everything.
Don’t be afraid to explore different ideas and perspectives. The more you learn, the closer you will feel to God. Trust that He is leading you on your journey and that He has a plan. Actually you are creating and fulfilling that plan with God every moment.
So we suggest please look at the wisdom in each religion and every source and most of all ask what feels true inside as you seek to find God.
Spiritual Growth
Deepak Chopra describes religion as someone telling us what God is. Spirituality is when we find out for ourselves. We should endeavor to explore our own spiritual growth when the teachings of recognized religion feel unwelcoming, too restrictive, or not in line with our feelings of what God and love are.
As you grow spiritually, you may find yourself questioning some of the things you once believed. This is natural! Part of spiritual growth is learning to think for yourself and to search for answers to life’s big questions.
There is more to God than what is written in the scriptures. It is important to read religious texts and thoughts away from mainstream teaching and choose from various sources to grow spiritually and holistically. This will help you understand who God is and what the message may be for you specifically. Additionally, engaging in spiritual practices such as meditation and prayer can help you connect with God personally. God is in the silence. It is also in the details. By learning about God from multiple perspectives, you can develop a stronger relationship with Him that can grow to unimagined magnitudes.
Where Can I Find More Information on God?
While the Bible has been the source of God’s teachings, we wonder why so many books were left out and why they are shuned by the powers in charge. So it could be good to both consider the Bible from a different perspective, such as the Christ being born inside of us and not the outside of us being born in Christ. It has nothing to do with dunking in water. And it may be good to look into the books such as Thomas that goes into much more than was ever taught to the masses.
There are many other great books you can read, such as Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch. Or perhaps The Way of The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman is more your thing.
There is much to learn about God and love from Sai Baba, and the book of his life called Shri Sai Satcharitra: The Wonderful Life and Teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba would be a wonderful read.
Movies, TV shows, and documentaries are other great places to discover more about God. For instance, the movie The Last Temptation of Christ is fascinating to watch which asks what if Jesus chose not to sacrifice Himself. The Matrix, Doctor Strange, Being Human, are all good to open our minds, and that is what we should do to find the complete truth. To face what we have been told since we were born from a fresh perspective. And with love.
Something else to watch is a drama series called The Chosen, which is about the life and ministry of Jesus focussing on Jesus and His disciples. It is a with all the drama and emotions of a contemporary story told well.
Don’t forget to use social media to discover who God is. YouTube channels such as those of Sadhguru, who is also on TikTok, are a thought provoking place to begin.
Final Thoughts
In essence, What is God? And does God judge? God is not about judging and punishing; instead, It is about the acceptance and love of all things in this world.
We owe it to ourselves and our spiritual growth by learning more about God; this can take many paths. If you truly believe that God is all about love and the vengeful, punishing god of the Bible does not ring true for you, then explore all you can about other religions and other spiritualities who see God as all-loving benevolent, and kind and keep all stories that benefit you and toss the rest. Be a little greedy with your mind.
Whatever path you take, spiritual growth can lead to a greater understanding of God and why understanding this muliverse matters in your life and in everyone’s. And opening up to new ideas can set your spirit free to soar.
